I had the joy once again of watching through the lens of a little one going from belly bump to newborn to six-month-old to two-year-old! I had a wonderful time spending an evening celebrating this two-year-old’s birthday along with her mom and dad’s 9th wedding anniversary!
One of the best joys of being a family photographer is watching children grow from pre-world to one year, and then through toddler years onward. This was a special photo session celebrating one year birthdays plus an early Christmas tree decorating party in festive dresses for twins Amelia and Addison (here’s their pre-world photos)!

There’s nothing like getting a 2 year old to smile with some tractor “driving,” pumpkin picking for grandma, and fresh caramel corn eating! Little Wylie enjoyed his morning of adventure as much as I enjoyed finding the following gems on my camera! A perfect foggy Pacific Northwest morning provided the optimal light for our pumpkin patch outing at Baggenstos Farm!
The very first time I met with Monica and Tyson, I knew that their wedding day would be full of elegance, light-heartedness, and lots of love! The beautiful autumn day did not disappoint as family and friends celebrated their marriage, along with random strangers in the square! Enjoy and congratulations Monica and Tyson!

The dear little sweetheart we’ve been waiting for arrived on June 25th with a smile on her face and a head full of silky blonde hair! Blessings to Cherith and Nathan on their new adventure of parenthood!
How fun it is to live in this very moment and remember it, not as you want to be, but who you are right now. Don’t wait to lose 10 lbs, until your skin clears up, or until you have more money in the savings account. Let’s make a little investment in memories and go buy yourself a cute dress or a new shirt, put on a little make-up if you wish, and let’s do a portrait session! Let’s remember 2014 as it is right now and dream of who you want to be, and when you make it, we can look back at these photographs and remember the journey that took us where we want to be! (We’ll need Throw-Back-Thursday photos ten years from now, too!)
Portraits of the Day today are of Meg. Talk about living courageously! This young woman has gone through more in her life than I could imagine, yet she continues to wear a smile and live by faith. Without use of her legs since she was born, Meg navigates life daily believing God to use her in the lives of others. She wanted to have portraits taken for her young daughter, for which I willingly obliged.
“Those two are going to have beautiful children!” said one friend to me after spying this lovely out for a coffee date one summer day a couple years ago, just newly dating. The beauty of Cherith’s pregnancy and the love between the young couple made me smile the entire photo session, and I can’t wait to meet their new little girl! Any day now!
In amazement, I watched the opening of a famer’s market peony from a tight ball to a wide blossom, and after a couple days of it’s beauty brightening up my living room, I brought it outside and captured it’s radiant pink petals. With a slight tinge of regret, knowing that it would probably be the end of the bloom, I let the cool breeze embrace flower in the ten minutes the “portrait” session lasted. Sure enough, the next morning the petals had sadly fallen to the floor, but not without leaving behind a happy memory.
Soaking up every moment of sunshine and a warm evening breeze before the next round of spring showers hit, my pups and I had an impromptu photo session on the back deck. The old feline watched at a distance from the window as the dogs slowly grew disappointed that the “beefy treat!” exclamation was meaningless.
